Environmental Prevention Strategies

Environmental Strategies refer to substance use prevention strategies that focus on community-level change to reduce the incidence of abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. These changes address the conditions that put people at risk for substance use or that protect them from risk factors in their communities and families. The primary role of this committee is to create and maintain a system for the planning and implementing of the specific strategies P-CASA will use to address alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other drug use in the Paterson with specific focus on the first ward.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with other subcommittees, staff and full coalition to plan campaigns, awareness and advocacy and policy change using the Strategic Prevention Framework.
  • Work with consultants in the development of social marketing and social norms campaigns, environmental scans and policy advocacy and change.
  • Work with Data Committee to secure and provide local data to make available to P-CASA for environmental decision making.
